Inploration; Art Exploring Space to Understand Earth
Through artwork, essays, interviews and archival imagery, this book invites readers into a journey of awe, curiosity and reflection. Rather than the more outward-facing “exploration,” “inploration” can be construed as a venture inward through the cosmos to better understand ourselves and our planet. Inploration unites nearly 100 international artists and thinkers across disciplines—established voices including James Turrell, Lita Albuquerque and Cai Guo-Qiang alongside visionary emerging talents such as Cannupa Hanska Luger, Lia Halloran and Tavares Strachan. Featuring additional contributions from astronauts, ecologists, Indigenous knowledge-holders, space technologists and designers, Inploration is both a cultural time capsule and a call to action. It reveals that the stories we tell about space are, ultimately, stories about our earth—about belonging, stewardship and imagination. At a time when the future feels uncertain, Inploration offers a renewed vision of care, creativity and planetary connection.
